Watch the “End the Violence” Documentary
Today marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Washington State has roughly 50,000 domestic violence incidents every year, with the highest rate in Spokane County. Last night, the documentary “End the Violence,” lifted the curtain on this deadly problem. It’s now available for you to watch here:
The Spokane Police Department has been collaborating with the community and the Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Coalition on the documentary – a project two years in the making. Filmmakers interviewed myself, along with dozens of other local experts and survivors, to give this issue the attention it deserves.
We are also working with the National Coalition of Juvenile and Family Court Judges on a Technical Assistance Project to prevent abusers from having access to firearms in domestic violence cases. This project will require support from the community and we are hopeful that the documentary galvanizes the community to rally around these efforts.
