Alliance for Gun Responsibility Responds to Virginia Beach Shooting

SEATTLE, WA – The Alliance for Gun Responsibility issued the following statement in response to reports that 11 people were killed and six more were wounded at a municipal building in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

“The terror of gun violence devastated yet another community today,” said Renee Hopkins, CEO of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility. “This time it was Virginia Beach, where at least 11 people were killed and six more were wounded when a gunman opened fire at a municipal building. Yet another workplace has been shattered, another city forever scarred, another group of >families left mourning. The Virginia Beach shooting was the 150th mass shooting in 2019. It happened on the 151st day of the year. No one in America should have to fear gun violence in their workplace, or their school, or their place of worship. Our hearts are with all the victims and first responders, their loved ones, and the entire Virginia Beach community. As long as these senseless tragedies continue, we will keep fighting to prevent them.”
