Statement on Shooting of Sikh Man in Kent

The Alliance for Gun Responsibility released the following statement on the shooting of Deep Rai, a Sikh man, in Kent.

“The shooting of Deep Rai, a Sikh resident of Kent, again underscores the importance of ensuring that guns do not make it into the hands of dangerous, violent people inspired by hateful rhetoric,” said Renée Hopkins, CEO of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility. “We’ve seen time and again in our country, and in our state, how guns make hate deadly and allow for marginalized communities to be targeted and attacked all too often and easily. We are better than hate in Washington, and we must do everything we can to ensure our neighbors, friends, families, and fellow Washingtonians are safe from the deadly intersection of hate and gun violence.”
