Alliance for Gun Responsibility Responds to Calls for ‘Citizen’s Arrest’ of Attorney General Ferguson

SEATTLE, WA – The Alliance for Gun Responsibility issued the following statement in response to reports that extreme gun-rights advocates, including members of the anti-government militia the Washington Three Percenters, have called for a citizen’s arrest of Attorney General Ferguson over his defense of Initiative 1639 and other gun safety laws.

“Calling for a citizen’s arrest of Attorney General Ferguson is completely unacceptable,” said Renée Hopkins, CEO of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility. “These individuals represent an extreme and dangerous minority in our state. The Attorney General is a strong defender of the will of the people and a champion in the fight to keep Washington safe from gun violence. In defending Initiative 1639 and other gun safety laws, he is doing his job and upholding the will of the majority of Washingtonians who voted in favor of these lifesaving laws.”
