Alliance for Gun Responsibility Responds to CHOP Shootings

SEATTLE, WA – The Alliance for Gun Responsibility issued the following statement in response to reports of a shooting near Seattle’s Capitol Hill protest zone. This was the fourth shooting in 10 days in the area, referred to as the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP.

“We are saddened to learn of yet another shooting near Seattle’s Capitol Hill protest zone,” said Renée Hopkins, CEO of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility. “Our hearts go out to the victims and all those impacted by these senseless shootings. This recent spate of gun violence is a painful reminder of what we already knew to be true: more guns does not equal safer communities. We hope that the broader movement demanding justice and the urgent calls for change are not overshadowed by this violence. As we remember those impacted by these shootings, we commit to continuing to work to end gun violence in all its forms and to fight for a safer, more just future.”
