Alliance for Gun Responsibility Responds to Mass Shooting in West Texas

SEATTLE, WA – The Alliance for Gun Responsibility released the following statement in response to the reported shooting in Midland and Odessa Texas that left at least seven dead and another 21 wounded. Details are still unfolding, but this shooting came just weeks after another mass shooting killed 22 people in El Paso, Texas and just the day after at least 10 young people were shot at a high school football game in Mobile, Alabama.

“At least 53 people have been killed in mass shootings in the United States just this month,” said Renee Hopkins, CEO of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility. “August started with back to back tragedies in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas and ended with another two in Mobile, Alabama and Odessa, Texas. Every day that Congress refuses to act, another 100 lives are stolen by gun violence. Today, we mourn with all those impacted by this senseless act and we resolve to continue the fight to end this epidemic.”
